Meet the RMI Nurse Practitioners
Infertility nurses are special people, one-part healthcare providers, and one-part coaches and confidants. At RMI, our nurses provide patients with practical and personal support as well as the guidance needed to navigate all aspects of care.

What sparked your interest in fertility?
While a graduate student, Ellie did research with her advanced pharmacology professor to further study the literature on the available pharmacologic therapies for anovulatory infertility due to polycystic ovarian syndrome. Her desire to learn and constantly seek new information in the ever-evolving field of reproductive medicine confirmed her passion for fertility.

Kaitlyn Burke, MSN, WHNP-BC
Kaitlyn Burke, MSN, WHNP-BC is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She is an avid advocate for a patient’s right to understand their own health care. She is passionate about evidence-based practice and the current research being conducted to advance our knowledge and practice in reproductive endocrinology.
Kaitlyn earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bradley University. She worked as a nurse in the emergency department at Advocate South Suburban Hospital and then on a labor and delivery floor at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. There, she realized that she was passionate about women’s health and joined the RMI team in 2017 as a nurse at the time. She obtained her master’s degree from Loyola University Chicago while working as a nurse at RMI. Now, she has transitioned into a nurse practitioner role with the same team.
What sparked your interest in fertility?
Previously working in the women’s health field, I knew this population was near and dear to my heart. A close loved one was going through a fertility journey of her own, which sparked interest in this specialty initially. When I joined the RMI team, I was able to truly appreciate how challenging and rewarding this field is. Taking part in the process for an individual, couple, or family to realize their goals of parenthood is the most rewarding job I can ever imagine.
What drew you to RMI?
To me, RMI is the best combination of what a fertility practice can be: small enough to offer truly individualized care, large enough to accommodate a wide variety of patients, and always searching for more as far as evidence-based research and best practices for each of our patients. RMI is a team where every role is vital in guiding the patient along their journey.

What sparked your interest in fertility?
While working at RMI, I discovered that women’s health is my true passion and where I want to continue my career. The physicians and clinical team are highly motivating and drove my curiosity to learn more about women’s health and fertility.
What drew you to RMI?
The collaborative environment, teamwork, and camaraderie between the clinical team and patients is what drew me to RMI. The small size of the clinic means we work closely with our patients to get to know them and create individualized plans to meet their specific needs. I strive to provide a holistic approach to overall physical and emotional wellness. Knowing that our work directly impacts patients’ lives is the most rewarding aspect of working in fertility.
