Are you thinking about starting your journey into parenthood? A fertility assessment and evaluation can help you gain a better understanding of your fertility potential. Whether you are actively trying to conceive or just want to plan for your future, you can schedule an assessment at Reproductive Medicine Institute in Chicago, IL.
Testing both women and men can help to greatly improve your chances for a successful pregnancy by determining the cause of a couple’s infertility. A comprehensive infertility assessment can help provide you with answers to many questions you might have. If you aren’t quite ready to start a family but would still like a more in-depth look at where you are in your reproductive cycle, RMI can help.
What Is a Fertility Assessment?
The fertility experts at RMI are pleased to offer a comprehensive fertility assessment package at a discounted rate of $99.00. For women, the tests performed in this assessment can help to evaluate the anatomy of the uterus and ovaries, as well as the ovarian reserve (or the ability to produce healthy eggs). For men, the test shows the total volume, count, shape/size, and movement of sperm. These tests include:
- Bloodwork consisting of FSH and Estradiol
- Ultrasound – Antra Follicle Count
- Semen analysis
Partners need to have testing preformed within 30 days of each other. If you decide to seek fertility care with RMI and schedule a new patient consultation, the $99 will be offered as a credit on your account.
After the tests have been performed, you will be provided a letter of interpretation. While the tests provided in this package will provide valuable information, there are many other tests that should be taken into account when evaluating fertility. Though these results do not guarantee your ability to conceive, they can give you an indication of where you are in your fertility timeline. Knowing your reproductive health can help you take control of your fertility options.
Fertility Tests for Women
Outside of the Fertility Assessment offered at a reduced price, RMI offers an extensive workup to evaluate the fertility of a woman. Blood levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Estradiol (E2) will be measured, and a transvaginal pelvic ultrasound with antral follicle count will be performed. We include a thorough review of your family history, personal and medical situation, and prior fertility testing. Many different diagnostic tests look for underlying issues. Infertility affects around 15% of the population, about 7.5 million people. You’re not alone. After a consultation with our team, you can expect the following steps throughout your evaluation and fertility testing:
- Vaginal ultrasound
- Follicle-stimulating hormone measurement
- Estradiol level
- Anti-Mullerian hormone level (AMH) test
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone level (TSH)
- Prolactin level
- Genetic Panel
- Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to evaluate fallopian tubes and uterus
- Hysterosonogram (HSN) to evaluate the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes
- FemVue Hysterosalpingogram (Sono HSG) for uterine anatomy and tubal patency defects
Fertility Tests for Men
Did you know that about 40% of infertility issues for couples looking to conceive can be attributed to the male side? It’s important to rule out any possible abnormalities throughout the fertility assessment. We conduct a semen analysis, thorough review of your family history, personal and medical situation, and prior fertility testing. For men, the assessment can help to determine the health of sperm. We’ll measure for:
- Quality of semen
- Number of sperm
- Motility – progressive movement of sperm
- Morphology – size and shape
Before performing a semen analysis, men should abstain from any sexual activity for 2-4 days.
