The Endometriosis Institute is affiliated with Reproductive Medicine Institute, one of the leading centers in the Midwest in the management of infertility, using state-of-the-art procedures such as Invitro fertilization. Our physicians/surgeons have many years of experience in the surgical management of endometriosis and have developed non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures that benefit our patients. We provide these services to patients in the Chicago area as well as to patients from other states, and quite frequently have some travelling internationally in order to take advantage of our services.

Endometriosis and Infertility

Considering that infertility is one of the major consequences of endometriosis, and that chances for pregnancy are much lower in advanced disease, most of our patients require well-planned and expedient management of infertility using highly successful techniques in order to prevent recurrence of the disease and its damaging effect on the reproductive function. A prolonged and less effective infertility treatment with ovarian stimulation accelerates recurrence of endometriosis, and we frequently replace it in women with advanced disease with maximally effective procedures such as Invitro fertilization. Our clinical research, reported in peer-reviewed professional publications, clearly demonstrates that women with endometriosis, even at the early stage, have monthly fecundity rate (monthly probability of pregnancy) not exceeding 2.5 – 5%. That translates to a realistic chance for pregnancy every 2-5 years, or less, considering that endometriosis is a progressive disease and that its adverse effect on fertility is cumulative.

Relieving the pain of Endometriosis

However, many of the Endometriosis Institute patients, especially those seen because of chronic pelvic pain, are not in a position to start a family and need to delay conception, for sometimes several years into the future. In such patients, management of pelvic pain and more importantly, prevention of disease progression, is the objective, and the Endometriosis Institute has developed effective approaches to the management of such cases as well.
