Secondary Infertility - When trying to conceive again isn't so easy

For some couples who have previously conceived without medical treatment, infertility may be encountered with subsequent attempts at conception.  Often, these couples experience more frustration than those suffering from primary infertility.  There are many causes that can lead to an inability to conceive the second (or third!) time around, but perhaps the most important is the effect of time on ovarian age .

Other problems which may evolve since a first pregnancy include endocrine disorders, worsening of pelvic pathology such as endometriosis  or fibroids, a change in male factor , and other lifestyle changes, such as weight.  For these reasons, the diagnostic approach to secondary infertility is very similar to that for primary infertility
